According to statistics resource Statista.com, 291 million Tumblr blogs alone were in existence by April 2016. And popular platform WordPress reports the creation of 50,000 new sites every day. So what types of business blogs are really effective? Blogs that work tend to feature regular and consistent postings by highly motivated bloggers. And they’re a deliberate and important element of the company’s social media strategy. Understanding this is key to developing blogs that will survive, and thrive, past their first year of existence.
Blog posts shouldn’t exist in isolation, but may be the starting point for a multi-channel, multi-format conversation with your target audiences. For many smaller companies, of course, the blog may be the core activity in thought leadership efforts, supported by links to its posts from LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and so on, while more established blogs stand to gain extra audience reach through syndicate partnerships.
